Vanderbilt Information Technology Services (ITS) is pleased to present a discussion with Steve Prentice on the impact of consumer technology on IT infrastructure and the enterprise.
Growing familiarity with consumer electronics and a seamless merging of the work and home experience means that most users no longer differentiate between the two environments. And as individuals gain more say in their world, they will demand a more integrated view of their digital life spanning these environments. They will increasingly demand a more consumer-driven model enabling use of the technologies to which they have grown accustomed.
Enterprise IT must support the enterprise strategy and mission through rapid changes and innovations, and enable new opportunities through effective technology deployment. Enterprise IT must remain agile, not constrained by legacy environments and inflexible processes, and it must deliver services that are reliable, available, and serviceable.
Steve Prentice is a Distinguished Analyst and Chief of Research for the global security and risk management sector at Gartner. He takes a specific interest in the long term future of technology - looking at the intersection of technology, business and society.
