LAN Party Positions
Published by Jason Roberts January 17th, 2007 in UncategorizedHello all,
As mentioned at the meeting, we will be doing a LAN party committee. I have seven positions laid out for us to choose. Please read on to find out which they are and what might be the best fit for you.
I will be acting as the LAN Coordinator, if no one else wants the job.
My job will be to allocate funds to appropriate objectives, allocate space that is obtained to various activities (e.g. floor plan), and to chair and schedule the LAN Committee meetings.
Brian will be acting as the technical/media guy. He will be obtaining access to the projectors, TVs, and sound systems that we need. He will also be maintaining the website, and handling the sign-up protocols. He will also procure servers for us to use in the PC tournament.
We need five other people to step up and take the following positions:
Advertising
: This person will be in charge of designing, scheduling, and posting advertising. This include flyers where appropriate, as well as an ad on webmail, and an ad on Facebook, as well as any other advertising opportunities that come up. This person will also help with the design of any signs that we use day of to advertise the various activities.
Tournaments Director (Console)
: This person will be in charge of choosing which consoles we use, which games we play, how the tournaments on those games are set up (e.g. free for all, capture the flag), and how many tournaments there are. Much of the day-of staff will be assigned to this person to overlook individual tournaments.
Tournaments Director (PC)
: This person will be in charge of choosing which games to play on the PC, how the tournaments on those games will be set up, and how many tournaments there are. This person will work with the Technical/Media guy who will have servers ready to host the games for this tournament, and may get some additional staff day-of.
Scheduling
: This person will be in charge of when and where. They will set the day, start time, and stop time for the tournament. They will need to coordinate with the tournament directors for tournament plans, and they will also need to work with eCouncil and Kate Gilbreath at ITS to ensure we’re not colliding with other events. This person will also need to get the appropriate rooms reserved.
Staffing
: This person will be in charge of getting volunteers to work day of. They will be in charge of getting T-shirts for staff and the design of those T-shirts.
If you think you can help in these five positions, please let me ASAP (before Saturday). We will hold our first meeting sometime early next week.
