Tournament Rules

Game setup

The tournament will be 1v1, played single elimination.

Each match will be best of 3 games.

All must provide their own computer with StarCraft II installed, and must have an active Battle.net account to participate.

Players are not allowed to play in any other tournaments.

The only observers allowed in a match will be controlled by or have permission from the tournament bosses.

Map Selection

Map must be chosen from the current 1v1 ladder pool:

Xel’Naga Caverns (2)

Abyssal Caverns (4)

Antiga Shipyard (4)

Metalopolis (4)

Nerazim Crypt (4)

Shakuras Plateau (4)

Tal’darim Altar LE (4)

The Shattered Temple (4)

Each player chooses the map for one game in a match.

First choice is determined by coin toss.

Map for the third game (if needed) will be determined randomly excluding maps used previously in the match.

Rules

All players must notify other player before pausing or resuming.

Intentional use of game bugs is not allowed, and may result in a disqualification, at the discretion of the boss.

No external programs may be used during tournament play. This includes chat or voice chat applications.

In the case of network failure, NEVER click “drop player”. Alert a tournament boss if this occurs.

If a player disconnects during a match the players must choose 1 of 2 ways to handle this

If both players agree, they can play a rematch game.

The disconnected player can forfeit the game if they choose giving the win to their opponent.

All network connections must be hardwired. Ethernet cables will not be provided.

If a delay of game is suspected (generally, a game lasting over an hour and where neither player is actively pursuing victory), the bosses may force faster gameplay. This will be exercised only in extreme cases.

The tournament bosses reserve the right to disqualify players on the grounds of other behavior deemed cheating or disruptive, at their sole discretion.

Post-match

All replays MUST be saved by each player upon completion of the match. Upon the request of either party, the tournament boss will review the replay to look for evidence of unfair play. Challenges must be brought to the attention of the boss immediately after the match has ended.

General Rules

3 stock.

8 minutes.

Items are turned to off and none.

If time runs out, the winner is determined by stock, and then by percentage.

If both stock and percentage are identical, or a game ends with both players being KO’d simultaneously (typically because of a Sacrificial KO via Bowser‘s Flying Slam or Ganondorf‘s Flame Choke), then a tiebreaker is played. A tiebreakers is a 1 stock, 3 minute match with the same characters and the same stage.

All sets with the exception of winner’s finals, loser’s finals, and the championship are best of 3 matches (best of 5 and above should be played out for any “finals” matches).

Controller ports are determined by Rock-Paper-Scissors if there is a dispute.

All people are responsible for their own control scheme/name tag and must make sure it is set before the match begins. Both players must agree to restart a match on account of a controller problem.

Stalling is banned. (Stalling is defined as any action that deliberately avoids all conflict as to make the game unplayable. Running from an opponent to get to a better position is not considered stalling, but using chain grabs infinitely against a wall beyond 300% or using Sonic’s Neutral B repeatedly underneath the stage is.)

Any action that prevents the game from continuing results in a forfeiture of the match for the offender.

Some interactions (for example, interrupting a throw with a wind attack) can cause one character to become frozen until being hit. If this happens, the free character is expected to capitalize on this in a timely manner; a failure to do so is considered stalling.

Set Format

Both players choose their characters (as well as their sub-character and costume) for the first game. A double-blind pick may be requested by either player.

Players start the stage-striking procedure in order to select the first stage. The optimal procedure for striking stages depends on how many starter stages are allowed. In the following list, “1″ is player 1 and “2″ is player 2.

3 Stages: 2-1

5 Stages: 1-2-2-1

7 Stages: 1-1-2-2-2-1

9 Stages: 1-1-1-2-2-2-2-1

Each player may ban a stage from the counterpick list for the match.

The first game is played using the stage chosen by step 2.

The loser of the previous game chooses a stage from the starter or counterpick list. No player may choose a stage they have already won on unless the other player agrees.

The winner of the previous game chooses their character.

The loser of the previous game chooses their character.

Steps 5-7 are repeated.

League of Legends Tournament Rules

Requirements:

At least Summoner level 20 (We don’t want to exclude people, but if you don’t have access to tier 3 runes you will be at a very large disadvantage.)

Format:

5v5 Summoner’s Rift

Teams of 5 with a captain

If you don’t have a team (or if you don’t have a full team), you can sign up on the board and we will try to fit you in one.

Double Elimination

WE WILL NOT BE DOING DRAFT MODE THIS YEAR

Instead, a 5v5 custom BLIND PICK game will be set up: in the game lobby, before champion selection, when both teams can talk to one another, captains will ban and pick. There will be 6 total bans, like in most major tournaments. Ban and pick format goes like this:

Team A: Bans 1 Champion

Team B: Bans 2 Champions

Team A: Bans 2 Champions

Team B: Bans 1 Champion, First picks 1 Champion

Team A: Picks 2 Champions

Team B: Picks 2 Champions

Team A: Picks 2 Champions

Team B: Picks last 2 Champions

Team A: Picks Last Champion

After champions have been banned and picked, the game will start. The game will be BLIND PICK so nobody has to deal with having to switch or anything. If either team violates the bans and picks (let’s say Amumu is banned and Team A picks Amumu instead of Annie, which is what they claimed) then they are immediately disqualified.

For this reason, it is highly suggested that each team screencaps the final picks/bans in case a discrepancy comes up.

Concerning Masteries and Runes:

We feel that masteries and runes add a metagame level of complexity to LoL and are integral to both skill level and game knowledge. However, we also understand that players who aren’t level 30 yet won’t get the full benefit of runes or masteries, and would thus be at a disadvantage. Therefore, the use of runes and masteries will be decided by the team captains prior to the start of the match, and the decision will be enforced by the boss and sub-boss. If there is a disagreement, we will intervene and make an executive decision based on the circumstances.

Concerning Disconnects:

If a member of a team disconnects within the first 10 minutes of a game, the game will be restarted with the same bans/picks. Each team has 2 restarts per game (and they do not carry over), so before the next game starts again try and make sure everything seems to be working. (Though sometimes that’s not always possible, good job PvP.net!!) In some cases, your team might just have to play a 4v5 – it’s not optimal, but time is of the essence and we can’t hold up the entire tournament for half an hour just to try and get PvP.net to cooperate. Because it probably won’t regardless of how many restarts we allow.

General Rules:

- Summoners are expected to be civil towards one another.

- All of the guidelines detailed in the Summoner’s Code apply for this tournament.

- If there is a serious violation of the rules (trash-talking, game-hacking, ???) going on, call over one of the bosses and screenshot the offense.

- Intentional feeding and trolling your team counts as an offense. In order to determine intentional feeding, 3 out of the other four members of your team must agree that you are guilty of the offense. (If the entire team decides to troll, that’s entirely on you guys)

- Refusal to cooperate with your team counts as an offense; the same rules used to determine intentional feeding will be used to determine refusal to cooperate.

- League of Legends is extremely time-consuming, and we urge you to prioritize your tournaments.

- If, after a match has already begun, you have to leave you will not be penalized, but we will not pause the game – your team will have to play without you.

- If a match has not begun and you are not ready to play five minutes after teams have assembled, the game will begin without you. You can either elect to be randomed into a character or trust your teammates to choose a character for you.

- Team captains are responsible for organizing their teams.

- Repeated offenses may result in your (or your team’s) disqualification from the tournament.

1st offense: Warning

2nd offense: Player(s) sit out of the game for 10 minutes

3rd offense: Disqualification

- Note that these do not have to be the same offense.
